Privacy Policy
Snag English keeps the English words you meet in conversation and gives them back to you on a spaced-repetition schedule. This describes what is stored while that happens, where it lives, and how to remove it.
What is stored
Only what running the service actually needs.
- Your account — email address, the name and picture URL from your Google profile, and a user id. These come from signing in with Google.
- The terms you save — the word, its meaning and which language that is in, pronunciation, part of speech, examples with translations, the topic of the conversation it came from, and the sentence you met it in when one was sent.
- Your review history — when you reviewed, the grade, which kinds of question you got right and wrong, whether a hint was used, and the memory state the spaced-repetition engine (FSRS) calculated.
- Your settings — the reading voice and the interface language.
What is not stored
Conversations are not stored. What is kept is the terms you explicitly asked to save, and the sentence each one appeared in.
Recordings made in the speaking exercise never leave your browser. They are not uploaded, and they are discarded when you move on from the question.
Nothing reads Claude's or ChatGPT's memory, chat history or files. The connector receives only the values passed to its tools.
Pronunciation audio
Words and example sentences are read by Google Cloud Text-to-Speech and the result is kept. Each file is addressed by a hash of its contents, so the same sentence is one file shared by everyone.
Those files are therefore not tied to any account and are not personal data. They remain after an account is deleted.
Who else is involved
Used only as far as running the service requires. Nothing is sold to anyone.
- Supabase — database, sign-in, and audio file storage
- Vercel — hosting for the site and the API
- Google — sign-in with a Google account, and generating pronunciation audio
What does not happen
There is no advertising, nothing here is used for advertising, and nothing is sold or handed to third parties. You are not profiled.
Keeping and deleting
What you save stays until you remove it. Deleting a term deletes its review history with it.
Deleting your account from the settings screen removes the account, the terms, the review history and the settings. It cannot be undone.
The same screen exports everything you have saved as a CSV.
Nobody else can see it
Your terms and review history are visible to your account alone. They are isolated row by row in the database itself (Row Level Security), so a request cannot reach rows that are not yours.
